Our story
Made by Ana Reyes, Eureka Springs.
The porch had too many windows to be a porch and too few walls to be a room, so I put a loom in it. That was eight years ago, in a house above Eureka Springs that leans a little toward the creek.
Loom & Field is a one-woman weaving studio, and the field in the name is literal: half of what colors the cloth grows in the beds out front. Madder for the reds, coreopsis for the golds, a stubborn patch of Japanese indigo for the blues. The rest I forage in season or buy from growers I have visited. Nothing is dyed with anything I would not want in the creek.
I weave on a 48-inch floor loom, slowly, and finish every piece by hand. The colors will shift with sun and washing, which I think of as the cloth keeping time with you rather than a flaw. Each piece ships with a card telling you what it was dyed with and when.
