Our story
Made by Eli Brandt, Harrison.
Coal forge, hammer, anvil, and a shop that is too hot in summer and exactly right in January. Forge & Anvil is in a tin-roofed building outside Harrison that used to be a machine shed, and most of what comes out of it is the kind of iron that used to be in every house: hooks, hinges, pot racks, fireplace tools, and the occasional gate.
The knives are where I spend my best hours. High-carbon steel, forged to shape, ground by hand, heat-treated in the forge and tested on the bench before they get a handle. I make kitchen knives for people who cook every day and want something that takes an edge and holds it.
Nothing here is cast. If you can see hammer marks, that is because a hammer made it. Iron gets a beeswax finish; renew it once a year with a rag and it will outlive both of us.
